The Owl Nebula (M97) – 19 Hours in HOO
M97, the Owl Nebula, in narrowband HOO - 19 hours over 8 nights.
The Owl Nebula (Messier 97) in Ursa Major, a planetary nebula about two thousand light-years away, is the glowing shell of a dying, Sun-like star. Shot over eight nights from my backyard, about nineteen hours of narrowband light, processed into an HOO (hydrogen + oxygen) image.
Gear & acquisition: Skywatcher 200/1000 PDS (8″ f/5) – Touptek ATR533M mono + filter wheel – EQ5 Pro – PHD2 guiding (~0.34″ RMS) – N.I.N.A. on a Windows mini PC. Ha 133 + OIII 122 subs, ~19 h over 8 nights. Calibrated and 2x drizzle stacked in Siril.
